Arcido Faroe Backpack Review – The Best Hand Luggage Bag?

I’m pretty picky when it comes to backpacks. Especially backpacks small enough to use as hand luggage for flights.

Let’s count them up, from small to large: my Lowe Alpine Edge 18, perfect for small day trips. My TNF Angstrom 20 in black, ideal for commuting or short hikes. My Barbour Tarras bag. And last but not least, my big Eagle Creek Universal Traveller Backpack – the perfect size for my Phantom drone.

I know, I’m a bit of a backpack geek.

So when the guys at Arcido got in touch and asked if I wanted to review one of their bags, initially I was reluctant. I didn’t think there was anymore room in my already-packed hand luggage arsenal.

But I was wrong. There was room. There was room because the Arcido Faroe backpack added things the other bags couldn’t. It filled a void I didn’t know existed, and that’s why I enjoyed carrying it around Sri Lanka with me.

THE ARCIDO FAROE BACKPACK

The first thing that struck me is that this is a good looking bag. The grey flecks and smooth material just make other bags look dull by comparison. It’s the kind of backpack that if you got dirt on it, you would be annoyed. My other bags – not so much.

Then there’s the big, fat handle on the top. Easy to grab, soft to hold, simple to move around.

The Faroe has two big zip compartments – I always separate my tech gear (laptop, iPad etc.) from my clothes, so this is ideal for me. And the clothes part zips all the way around, meaning it opens like a duffel bag, allowing you to reach items at the bottom, easily.

Then there’s the two shallow zip pockets near the top – perfect for my passport and toiletries. Such a simple addition that makes a big difference. Those pockets alone make this bag ideal for hand luggage as you don’t have to spend time rooting around in deeper zip pockets, fretting after two minutes that you’ve lost your passport (again).

The pouch pockets on the side are deeper than regular side backpack pouches which means bottles of water don’t fall out, AND the bag itself is quite long, which is great for a 6ft 1inch person like myself, as it fits snug against my back.

Overall, the Arcido Faroe is a great backpack, and now my number one choice for hand luggage. It even looks good sat next to Pip.
