Simon’s Jam Jar Wins ‘Best Male’ At The Blogger Awards 2014

, ,
Earlier in March I was looking through Twitter on my phone when I came across the blogger awards, run by lowcostholidays. I looked through the categories and saw some familiar faces, and some great blogs.

I eventually scrolled down to the ‘Best Male’ category and had to do a double-take when I saw my own name and blog had been shortlisted. Not only was that surprising, it was also very humbling to be shortlisted alongside some of the best travel bloggers around.

Safe to say I was very chuffed with the news, and after the initial surprise subsided, my competitive trait kicked in, and I went to win it.

The incredible news is….I WON!!

Simon Heyes - Simon's JamJar Wins Best Male - Blogger Awards 2014

At a fun awards evening on 16th April at the Jewel Bar, Piccadilly Circus, the winners were announced, and I collected my certificate and prize – a hike over the O2 Arena in London 🙂 With beer, wine, some fancy dress and a blow up shark doing the rounds, the other category winners and I promptly celebrated in style.

Claire, Brendan, Jessi and me

Travel blogging is something I fell into in 2012. I wanted to use this blog as a platform to tell my personal stories on the road. So to receive recognition from an award like this makes me incredibly happy.

The other categories and blog winners were as follows;

Super Stylish – DJ Yabis from Dream Euro Trip
Fun Family – Nicola from Jetlag and Mayhem
Best Foodie Explorer – Giulia from Mondomulia
Most Fearless – Arianwen from Beyond Blighty
Best Roaming Romantics – Anu and Sri from Country Hopping Couple
Most Comical – Brendan from The Travel Pop
New Kid on the Block – Nicole from A Life Less Beige
Best Female – Ayla from Mrs Ayla’s Adventures
Top International – The Nomadic Family
Thriftiest Traveller – Clare from Need Another Holiday

Congratulations to all the other winners, and all the other bloggers that were shortlisted. I also wouldn’t have won the award if it wasn’t for everyone who voted – friends, family and fellow bloggers – thank you!

Lastly, a big thank you to lowcostholidays for hosting the awards, and a great evening.

Photobombing at its best

Give the blogs above a follow, and stay tuned for my O2 Arena hike post 🙂
