The Best Luxury Ski Chalets In Europe

Buckle up, because the sight of the prices of these uber-luxury chalets will make your eyes water. Or will they?

I’ve stayed in some pretty good chalets when I’ve skied in France, Switzerland and Austria, but what classes a chalet as ‘luxury’? My picks for the most luxury ski chalets include free add ons, one-off differences, attention to detail, plenty of space, both in the living areas and bedrooms, and – most importantly – the wow factor.

Without further adieu, here are my 13 best luxury chalets, dotted around the European Alps.

Use the scroll bars on each image to cycle through the chalets in all their glory.

**Updated November 2021**

1) The Lodge, Verbier, Switzerland

Where better to start than one of the most prestigious ski chalets around. Located high in the Swiss Alps in Verbier, Sir Richard Branson’s mountain retreat comes with nine stunning bedrooms and suites, an indoor pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, a spa therapist and Michelin-star trained chefs. I once had drinks with some of the chalet hosts in the Mont Fort pub who said it’s one of the nicest, luxurious chalets in the Alps (well, they would wouldn’t they).

2) Chalet Zermatt Peak, Switzerland

I challenge you to find a more luxurious chalet in the world, let alone Europe. Sleeping 10 people in 5 bedrooms, it’s the sweeping, panoramic lounge that sells this place. Floor-to-ceiling views of the Matterhorn, and incredibly comfortable rooms and a bar you’d probably see James Bond leaning at, Chalet Zermatt Peak is tough to beat.

Constructed from reclaimed old timber and local stone, with beautifully crafted wooden detailing, Chalet Pearl oozes charm. The chalet has an indoor swimming pool, steam room, gym, cinema room, bar, and the main bedroom even has it’s own jacuzzi. Check out these pics…

13) Chalet De Mes Reves, Morzine, France

Ok, ok, if you’ve scrolled all the way down this list HOPING that you can afford one of the chalets, when actually they are wayyyyyyy out of reach, then do not fear. I’ve added one I think you’ll love, that is in France, and in budget. Chalet de mes Reves may not have the space of the others, but it is cosy, you can ski from the door, it has an outdoor hot tub and you’ll be well looked after. The chalet sleeps 8, and is worth a look for those wanting a bit of luxury on a budget 🙂
