13 Spectacular Pictures Of Papua New Guinea
Last Updated on
Papua New Guinea has a reputation for being one of the most culturally diverse, beautiful places in the world.
Located 160km from the very Northern tip of Queensland, Australia, Papua New Guinea is the adventure travellers paradise. From birdwatching, diving, hiking, and surfing, there are activities and experiences for everyone.
Once rarely visited by Western nations, Papua New Guinea receives around 5,000 British nationals every year. This figure was boosted last year thanks to new cruise itineraries and increased flight connections.
This year, I will be one of those 5,000 British nationals. Working with Papua New Guinea Tourism, I will be taking a 12-day trip to Papua New Guinea as their first Blogger Ambassador. This will be an incredibly exciting and humbling experience, and one I cannot wait to start.
Looking through some of PNG Tourism’s official pictures, the vibrant colours and scenery blew my mind, so I thought a great place to start my Papua New Guinea blog posts would be with 13 incredible images of Papua New Guinea, including the stunning landscape, volcanic scenery and vibrant people. Enjoy!

enjoy your trip in the summer.
Thanks Kari! 🙂
Just so you know, they're called the Asaro Mudmen 😛 I lived in Goroka for 7 years
Thanks for clarifying! I've changed it to Asaro 🙂
It's a World War II airplane wreck. Just a slight anachronism there… No worries, Mate!
It's a pity that PNG gets such a bad press, especially by the Australians, as it is a beautiful country. Having spent the best part of a year travelling around the island.
Which islands have the best beaches in New Guinea
Good question! There are so many around Papua New Guinea. There are nice ones in Madang and Kopoko, but probably the most scenic golden ones can be found on the islands around the mainland – the Louisiade Archipelago has plenty to feast the eyes!
Requesting permission to post #2 to my Facebook page in honor of PNG's national day, with appropriate photo credits. Thanks! Chris Morehouse, Shepherdstown, WV
Wow! PNG is trully a diverse cultural country/ When I heard PNG, colors come first to my mind, may be because its culture is very colorful. I really enjoy PNG at its best when we visited Tawali PNG tourist destination. It is a great dive resort that lets you feel being a local.
Love the Papua New Guinea (PNG) photos.
